According to the Hallmark Ultimate Holiday Ap, today is National Bittersweet Chocolate Day, and who doesn’t love chocolate. I happen to be a big fan of dark chocolate, more so than milk chocolate and bittersweet is the chocolate I use mostly in baking because it give a deeper chocolatey flavour.
So last night I decided to get out my chocolate and make a tiny treat in honour of the day.
The recipe couldn’t be easier.
1/2 cup good quality bittersweet chocolate
1/2 tablespoon hazelnut butter
3 tablespoons sunflower seeds
Combine the chocolate and hazelnut butter and melt in microwave (it took me about 20 seconds 3 times, stirring mixture between each).
Cut up the banana into bite-sized pieces and lay on a sheet of parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
Drizzle the melted chocolate over the bananas and sprinkle the sunflower seeds on top.
Place the cookie sheet in the freezer. Once the bananas are frozen remove from the cookie sheet and place in a freezer safe container. Enjoy whenever you need something cool and sweet which surprisingly (or not) for me is quite often.
